The venerable Scandinavian free jazz supergroup The Thing consisting of Mats Gustafsson on tenor and baritone saxophones, Ingebrigt Haker Flaten on electric and acoustic bass and Paal Nilssen-Love on drums and percussion has kept their music fresh though building some excellent meetings with fellow musicians and this meeting with the legendary guitarist James "Blood" Ulmer is another feather in their cap.

Baby Talk is strangely user-friendly, showcasing an almost courteous conversational backand-forth between Blood and saxmaster Gustafsson, underpinned by centred extemporisations from one of the best bass-and-drums combos working in free improv today.
