Katharina Ernst

Austrian artist and drummer Katharina Ernst studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. She has been playing drums since the age of nine and is particularly interested in polyrhythmic, polymetric and chaotic structures in the context of improvised and experimental music. Her artistic practice is richly varied, taking in various forms of performance, choreography, and visual art along the way. She has performed and exhibited in a wide array of countries and spaces. Previous musical collaborations include the likes of Ken Vandermark, Peter Kutin, VENTIL, Christina Kubisch, and in the duo ALSO with Martin Siewert. Katharina Ernst lives and works in Vienna and Berlin.
