Amalie Dahl is a Danish-born saxophonist, composer, and bandleader based in Oslo, Norway. Known for her distinctive sound and strong artistic integrity, she has established herself as a compelling voice on the Nordic and European jazz scenes, both as an improviser and composer.

A lot of fuzz was created by her project  Amalie Dahl’s Dafnie  - an energetic and expressive band with roots in the jazz scene in Trondheim. The quintet shapes and colours Amalie Dahl’s compositions with great conviction. The compositions consist of through-composed cells and melodies, as well as structures and moods, which the listening and interacting ensemble improvises around and uses as a point of reference. The band has previously been associated with ensembles such as Fire! Orchestra and the Christian Wallumrød Ensemble.

In 2024, they won a Danish Music Award Jazz in the category Single of the Year for the track “We don’t want your stupid war”. In 2025, they performed at international festivals including Molde Jazz and Jazzfest Berlin as Dafnie EXTENDED, and started their collaboration with the Swedish pianist Lisa Ullén, one of Sweden’s most influential pianists within free jazz and improvisation as well as contemporary music.
In 2026, the collaboration with Lisa Ullén continues, and they celebrate the release of the live album “Live at Kafé Hærverk – feat. Lisa Ullén” with a series of concerts.

Dafnie has already released two albums: the first, Dafnie, was released on Sonic Transmissions Records in May 2022. The second, Står op med solen, was released in collaboration between Sonic Transmissions Records and Aguirre in April 2024.
